It's a Sad Day, We Loose a Brother

After watching the horrific crash that our Brother Jeremy Lusk endured, I'm sad to say that Jeremy has passed away due to complications. I've seen this guy perform quite a few times with his crew, Metal Mulisha. He inspired a lot of up and comers to the sport of FMX, and was even given the honors in 08 as Rider of the year. He will be missed and I'm sure honored in a heroic fashion. My thoughts go to his family and friends in hopes of pushing through this tough time.

Here's an article that's been making the rounds on the web.

Tragic News Regarding Jeremy Lusk

It is with the greatest sadness that we report... Jeremy Lusk passed away last night at approximately 11:03 p.m. PST due to complications from the crash sustained Saturday evening in Costa Rica. Still in the Calderon Hospital Intensive Care Unit, he was surrounded by his loving mother and father, Chuck and Gina Lusk, his wonderful wife Lauren, his mother and father-in-law Lynne and Larry and many of his closest Mulisha family members including Brian Deegan, Ryan Hagy, Cameron Steele and Erik Apple.

Please keep Jeremy and his family in your thoughts and prayers. All the warm thoughts, comments and support are comforting in these times.

We will provide further updates regarding arrangements as we get them.

PR :: RC 21st in Crash-Strewn ARCA Race

A press release for Ricky Carmichael race at Daytona.

MotoSport Rider Community Industry News Articles.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Ricky Carmichael and the No. 33 Monster Energy KHI All-Stars team finished the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Slick Mist 200 in the 21st position after returning from a lap-13 multi-car crash. James Beuscher won the 80-lap / 200-mile race while Joey Logano finished second.

Carmichael started in the 23rd position, and had patiently moved into the 19th spot on lap 13 when two cars immediately in front of him made contact, and swept the No. 33 car into the crash. The car suffered significant front-end damage, but the KHI All-Star crew were able to make repairs such as replacing the radiator. Carmichael returned to the track 28 laps behind the leaders, and was able to nurse the crippled machine for the remaining laps, finishing 21st, completing 52 of the 80 laps.

"It was just guys that weren't being patient!," said a frustrated Carmichael about the crash that damaged the Monster Energy entry. "It was so early in the race for that kind of thing. After about 10 laps, some of the guys in front of me started sliding around and my car was handling great - I was catching them in the corners and I expected to start moving forward.

"But, somebody wasn't patient enough to run single file and two guys spun each other out. There was nothing I could do and nowhere I could go. I guess I'm a victim of circumstances. The laps I was able to turn gave me a sense of what I can work on and what to expect next week (in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona).

"I want to thank the team for working so hard to repair the car," said Carmichael. "I'm inexperienced in this kind of racing, but they were all hustling big-time to make the repairs so I could get back out there and turn more laps. That means a lot to me to see that kind of work ethic and teamwork after a big crash. If I can get just a small bit of the luck I had in my motocross career, we'll be alright in the Truck Series."

Carmichael, the most successful motocross racer in American history, is scheduled to race 14 events this year in the No. 4 Monster Energy KHI All-Stars Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, beginning Friday night in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona.

Ricky Carmichael Still Knows How to Battle

I just finished watching the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona. RC did pretty well despite some bad luck. He was caught up in a 6 car pile up and couldn't help being caught up in the web of destruction. The #33 car was out of the race and getting repairs. RC eventually charged back out onto the track with a, well, not so aerodynamic car. The damage from the wreck completely destroyed the whole front end. The crew tore off the front end body and sent him back out. He made it around the track to finish the race in 21st place, and to somehow avoid a couple more horrific accidents. The commentator said that at one point during the race more than half of the drivers were out due to wrecks. The theme of the race became total carnage. Mangled metal. I can go on for days, but I'll spare ya. Check out the screen shots I got off with the Iphone, it's almost like you're there.

Here's RC Getting some LOVE on SpeedTV

And Here's what his car looked liked with not body on the front end

Anticipating A Mudder in Anaheim

The word on the streets is Anaheim III is going to be a muddy situation. Having experience a few Anaheim races, under the not so welcomed moisture, I can tell you that we can expect some crazy racing. The Riders who you typically pick week in, and week out, can struggle to keep both wheels up and rolling. Champions have humbled themselves after a few laps of this stuff. But the struggle for some, can offer up the lime light to others. I mean the guys who struggle to make it through the main event under normal circumstances, can become contenders for a spot on the podium. Maybe getting the only opportunity in their professional career to be on the box. Remember Akira Narita?

Any ways tonight we could see the best of the best struggle under the lights, so don't count out the the guys running mid pack. Mud means anything can happen. It's the perfect equalizer. As I'm typing out this blog, I'm also checking the weather conditions in the Anaheim area. I guess time will tell. Laters.

Maybe some radar to depict the situation.

I can welcome the the rain safely behind this monitor and not really think twice about it. I know with it comes excitement and that's welcomed better than having wet socks, or maybe just a soothing cup of frothy hot chocolate.

Here are some shots of the 2005 A1 Mudder, it was Awesome!

Look closely there's a bike buried.

Not Much into Car Racing, But We're Talking About Ricky Carmichael

Just like the title says, I'm not much of a "Nascar" follower. But having our very own Ricky Carmichael in the rankings to someday make it to the big show, has given me some interests in a sport that I wouldn't normally follow. Today, RC will race in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200, in Daytona, Fl. Speed TV will air the race LIVE @ 1:00pm PST. I was checking out the qualifiying stats and saw RC qualified 23rd with a top speed of 178.841 and a lap time of 50.324. Looking at the top qualifier he's only 9/10th's of a second off the leader. WOW, that's nothing in supercross, but in car racing I guess it means 23 spots off the leader or about 4mph slower. Crazy!

I'm looking forward to watching his big televised debut in 4-wheels this afternoon. I hope he does well and drives the wheels off that car, just like his Dirt Scooter days.

I'm guessing that this is his Monster Energy Chevrolet race car. GO RC!

Tested and Trued Products :: OGIO Layover Bag

Whether you're heading out of town for the weekend or just going to the coast for the night, I've found the bag for you. The OGIO Layover bag fits perfectly in the overhead luggage bin, allowing you to NOT depend on the airport baggage handlers to loose your change of cloths for the next 3 days. I'm able to cram enough belongings for a trip up to 4 days into this bag. I've tested this personally and can vouch for this. Besides the name brand, OGIO, this bag offers really good quality and a lifetime warranty on the stitching and zippers. I will assure you, if you get enough use out of this bag to destroy the zips or cause the stitching to unravel, OGIO will take care of you. Heck they may even bronze it and keep it in a secured case for the showroom. Joking aside, this bag will be the last bag you'll ever need to buy, unless the wife wants one, in that case you're screwed anyways.
Check out this bag at MotoSport.com for the best price around. Just follow the link. Laters

Tested and Trued Product :: Dragon Vendetta Goggle

Since I'm not much of a writer as I am a rider, I thought it would be convenient to talk about products that I've used and trust. For instance these goggles.

The Dragon Vendetta goggle was a revolution for my face. Let's just say that I've been a fan of a particular brand (Smith) for a very long time. What I liked about the Smith Goggle that the Dragon Vendetta Goggle revolutionized, was the out-rigger type frame. This allows any face/helmet combination to have a better fit and feel. Instead of traditional style frames were the strap comes out of the frame and wraps around the helmet, has been replaced with a longer frame that lifts the strap off the main body of the goggle to give an even pull when the strap is put around the helmet. This eliminate the goggle from lifting off the nose, or cheek area. This can be annoying and somewhat of a safety hazard. Talk about getting dirt in your eye 5th gear pinned. This isn't something you want to deal with in the first turn.

Check out these goggles if you're having issues with your current ones, or if you like try something different. The price is right and the color choices are very edgy. Of course you can find them at MotoSport.com 24hrs a day. just follow the link. Laters.

2009 AMA Supercross Privateer Riders

When I was down at San Francisco I thought it would be cool to get as many of the Privateers as I can. It went so well that I posted the 450's and Lites guys up on my flickr page. These guys work so hard to be let down. The cost getting there, on top of the fact that 1/2 of these guys will not make the show, has to be so overwhelming that I could never imagine doing that to myself. But for some unknown reason these guys show up and give the fans the show they came for. I respect that and would go out of my way to help them if I could. So enjoy these pics and maybe research some of these riders out, who knows they could be from your town.

2009 AMA Monster Energy Supercross @ Round 5 San Francisco

I was lucky to attend the San Francisco Supercross under perfect weather conditions. For the sunshine to gleam out amongst the Riders and Fans made for a really great race later that evening. The race outcome was predictable but worth every second. I was able to get off a few shots during second practice of the big bikes and the lites. I will post up later, a blog of some privateers. They never get any props for their effort. Below you'll get a taste of some awesome racing that went down last Saturday night. Laters.

Wanna Be Pro

I would love nothing more than for my passion in photography to lead me into a professional situation. Below is my 1st attempt at possibly getting my photos published. I won't say who, and it's not a huge deal, but it would be cool none the less. As you can see I'm still learning and would love any feedback.
